This is a discipleship strategy inviting students to live life on purpose.
Therefore, go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
The 4 Objectives:
- Engage students in spiritual disciplines. Learning to pray is just the beginning of the incredible spiritual journey. Engaging in Bible reading, fasting, journaling, scripture memorization and other spiritual disciplines will allow students to become the people they were always designed to be! As we eliminate prayerlessness, we usher in powerful living and giving! Prayer eliminates casual Christianity. Prayer establishes the Kingdom of God in our lives!
- Engage students in strategic personal giving to eliminate Speed The Light projects. Giving towards the same STL projects in each Area will help us to leverage the power of partnership. Every Area has adopted a specific STL project. The power of partnership that we have in our Network is incredible. A $35,000 Speed the Light project may seem impossible for a single ministry, but when 10 or 15 youth ministries work together the need can easily be met!
- Expose students to mission opportunities. Experience + Discipline = Disciples. Mission opportunities are both across the street and around the world. Everyday students are invited to join God on His mission on their school campus across the street. Every summer students should be invited to join God on His mission around the world.
- Equip and Empower students to serve. Your students don’t want to simply go to church; they want to be the Church! By providing students with practical opportunities to serve we are unleashing the largest volunteer group on the planet! Students that live for God their whole lives begin to serve when they are young.
Let’s call students to BE someone rather than to AVOID doing something!
We are calling students to live LIFE ON PURPOSE. Jesus’ final challenge in the Gospels was an invitation to anyone who would follow, to give themselves to the cause of Christ. Our job as missional-leaders is first to provide a model and then an opportunity for those we lead to engage in the life Christ called us to.
In your corner cheering loudly,
Jeffery & Joanne Portmann
