Pastor Appreciation

Dear Local Church Leaders

October is National Clergy Appreciation Month, and the second Sunday in October, this year the 9th, is identified as National Pastor Appreciation Day.  We want to encourage you as leaders in the church to take advantage of this national emphasis to specifically express appreciation to your pastors, and to conduct an annual review of salary and benefit packages for your pastoral staff prior to year’s end.

We realize that many churches choose different times of the year to express appreciation to their pastoral leaders, but this national time of recognition affords a perfect opportunity for this reminder, and that of the Scriptures.

Appreciate your pastoral leaders who gave you the Word of God.
Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you,
as well as their truthfulness.   (Hebrews 13:7 MSG).

I would like to direct your attention to a very valuable resource that will give you many creative ideas on how to bring honor to your pastor(s). Focus on the Family has provided a website dedicated specifically to Clergy Appreciation.  They also provide a Clergy Appreciation Guide for ideas.

Whether on National Pastor Appreciation Day, October 9, or on another special occasion this year, we encourage you to lead others in showing appreciation to your pastors.  It will encourage their hearts and rightly acknowledge the role God has called them to fill.  God will bless you for it!

Thankfully yours,

Les Welk,
NWMN Team Leader
